After exploring Vancouver Island, it was time to head to the mainland and check out all the climbing that Squamish had to offer. We put ourselves and Copa on an early morning ferry, and were soon on the coast of British Columbia near the big city of Vancouver. We took a few hours to explore the metropolis (and have a beer 😉) before heading north towards one of the world's best climbing destinations. We knew that the climbing was good, but we didn't know that this place would be our paradise for the next three weeks (especially when we only thought of spending a week or two). For a couple of kids who live in a van, this place absolutely ruled. Free camping just minutes from town, lakes for cooling off, climbing crags galore, and more cool people than you could ever hope to encounter. We learned to trad climb here, celebrated Bryan's birthday, did some epic multi-pitches, and made some great friends in our little camp in Chek canyon. Most days we'd get up early to climb, then hit a lake during the heat of the day, and finish it off with a dusk climbing session before hanging with everyone back in camp. Squamish was a special place for us, and we know we'll be back!
p.s. wish we took more climbing pictures, but our hands were full 😉
